Chaucer and Dad and J.R. and anyone else who care to chime in-

This is an emergency and sorta’ awkward.

If you had the choice to see Dream Theater or Rush, but not both, who would you choose and why? I have seen neither. I would value your opinion. My apologies if this is inappropriate. I’m not sure what constitutes proper etiquette on these things anyway. Many thanks.

For me, there would be no question: Rush.

They might play Red Barchetta or The Trees. You don't want to miss that. Of course, not that Dream Theater isn't worth seeing, Rush just always featured larger.

I want to know what you decide.

I would choose Rush simply for the reason of not being able to tolerate Dream Theaters lead singer voice. Their music seams to blended for my slightly atune hard rock ears...then again I am just Big Jake.

I'd probably take Rush, mainly because they are on the last leg of their music making, while DT is in full swing and will be for years to come. One thing is for sure: if you love them both, you should see them both...now or later. Make it happen, bro. You won't regret it.

buy the dvd of rush AND dream theater and stay the heck home. you dont want to go some damn too-loud concert with a bunch of old intellectual hippies in hawaian shirts, do you? do you? just lose your hearing when you get old.

Thanks so much for the input. I am definitely going to see Rush. Perhaps I’ll catch Dream Theater next time around. August six shall be a fine day.

Glad to hear it. Don't listen to grumpy old poppy...

Life is about experiences not possessions, so a concert experience is infinitely more radical than watching a DVD. I have too many regrets of saving my hard earned coinage in high school for clothes, CDs, girls, etc...when I could have seen AC/DC or Van Halen or Metallica for...maybe $25 bucks!! All of those clothes and girls have since been passed on to others.

GO and ENJOY!! This experience will be awesome.
